CHPTER 7 OF FREEDOM 25

“Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart,”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27‬:‭50‬-‭51‬ ‭NLT‬‬

One of the most powerful and fascinating things about the Cross is the tearing of the curtain. To break it down, the curtain in the sanctuary created a distinction between the Presence of God in the Holies of Holies and other areas of the temple. Only the high priest and only once a year was, he allowed to go in there. But the moment Jesus gave up His Spirit, this curtain was torn down signifying free and wide access to the precious + powered Presence God any and every time.

As much as it is a popular teaching in the Christian faith, oftentimes our lives don’t reflect it, we live and move waiting for someone to say something, waiting to hear something, waiting for an unnecessary confirmation etc. But you have access to God, and this is something God has always wanted- that through Jesus you get to approach Him boldly as His child. You get to develop an intimate relationship with Him through the help of His Holy Spirit in you. God didn’t just save you, He put Himself inside you- the Person who dwelled in the holies of holies now dwells in you from the moment you say ‘YES’ to Jesus.

You have the freedom to walk with God, in the last chapter, I shared on knowing God for yourself- now, I am adding that you have the freedom to walk with Him and obey Him. You don’t have to keep explaining yourself to people, wondering if you are wrong or right- the more you stay with Jesus and obey Him, the more you learn that when you are out of line, as long as your heart is towards Him, He is able to lead you back to order by His Spirit. You don’t have to live in fear that you might miss it, that you might fail, that you might end up being disappointed and even if these things happen, the presence of God is available to make things right and lead you back on track.

You are a child of God. He loves you. He desires to know you. He desires to have something precious, personal and unique with you. Don’t rob yourself and God of this joy of intimate relationship. Stop running up and down, stop turning to men and women, stick it out with Jesus. Stay in His Presence, obey the little instructions and nudges His Spirit gives you, obey the Bible. Believe that God is leading you.

Here is one tip that can help:

 Make pleasing God your Ultimate goal & focus

“It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying— “he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The testament of Enoch’s life, the summary of his living was – He pleased God.

At the end of the day, being a great entrepreneur, investor, creator, minister etc. doesn’t hold weight, what does is that you pleased God. On a daily basis, God doesn’t judge your life by the physical things people see, He judges you starting from your heart towards Him- He wants a heart desperate to please Him. He wants a heart fully in love with Him and willing to go as far and stay back just to please Him.

When you stand before His throne at the coming of His Son or when you are called Home; titles, wealth, productivity, goals etc. won’t be the bone of contention, what would be is that you woke up every day and chose to please Him and when you failed, you got back up in repentance and kept going. Your Father is not after perfection, He wants surrender, repentance and consistency. He wants you to be brave in living a life that you know according to His Word pleases Him.

To please God requires sacrifice at different points, it requires crucifying your own desires, sometimes to the point of tears, pain and anger. That’s why He gave you His Holy Spirit, to hold, lead, and comfort you – always. It’s not always easy to let go of your desires, to endure hardship, unfair treatment, or slander without giving in, but it is part of pleasing God. And it has its huge rewards- both earthly and heavenly. Please God. Don’t be moved by anything else. Do what He says, starting from the scriptures to the personal instructions He gives you. Make Him the object of your desire, passion and pursuit. Let Jesus be the beginning, journey and destination of your entire life. It’s a beautiful path, yet it’s rocky but it’s worth it. Depend on Him, for without Him you can do nothing (JOHN 15).

Freedom lies not in calling the shots of your life and doing your thing but in the curvy surrender that comes with following Jesus’ day in, day out.
